Parents. Teachers. Organizations.
I want to thank you personally for your interest in "I Can Win!"This book serves as a powerful tool to assist in the development of a growth mindset for the most important commodity to date: OUR CHILDREN.
I Can Win! serves as a tool to arm children with a defense against those negative messages playing in their brains and to replace them with positive ones. It teaches and encourages children to use positive self-talk . Self talk is the voice that students hear in their heads regarding their own potential and abilities. It so essential that children begin to recognize what they speak about themselves is critical to their self-esteeem. It is our duty as adults to teach our children HOW to make these positive declarations.
What exactly are positive Declarations? They simply are a powerful statement aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. Positive Declarations can motivate, keep your mind focused, influence, change the way you think or behave, and even alter the way one physically feels.
Research shows us that positive thinking is about much more than just being happy. Positive thoughts can actually create real value in one’s life and can help build skills. Positive thoughts can lead to positive outcomes.
Integrating positive declarations in the classroom can help improve students’ mindset and level of student engagement. They can help create a positive and supportive classroom environment for students, that will lead to positive student behaviors and improved actions.
Schools, non-profits and church organizations should implement the 21 declarations as creative as possible. The goal is that children recognize their greateness and their worth in spite of the social, economic, or educational challenges they encounter.
The research on using declarations in the classroom shows a positive effect on self-esteem and an increase in grades for low performing students. Here is an excerpt on research reported by Psychology Today:
“An emerging set of published studies suggest that a brief self-affirmation activity at the beginning of a school term can boost academic grade-point averages in underperforming kids at the end of the semester. This new work suggests a mechanism for these studies, showing self-affirmation effects on actual problem-solving performance under pressure,” said J. David Creswell, assistant professor of psychology in CMU’s Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Released February 2018, "I Can Win!" is available for purchase online at Barnes and Nobles and Amazon. It serves as both a book and workbook and is easily comprehended at the K-12 grade level.
Overall, it is my personal goal to place a copy of "I Can Win!" in every school across the USA. Youth who are socially, financially, academically, and physically disadvantaged can utilize the declarations to build resiliency and combat low self-esteem. Therefore, your assistance in placing this life-changing tool in the hands of our youth is invaluable.
